Adriana Gotowiecka

Adriana Gotowiecka grew up in Poland, but for the last 20 years she have been living and working in London.

Mainly being a self-taught artist, gives Adriana the freedom and proficiency to express herself and her work has evolved through her own personal experience.

The themes of Adriana´s work are many and varied over the years, her paintings are triggered by someone or something she experienced in life, like an art map of her personal life.

"My work is very autobiographical but portraying myself on a canvas is a difficult place to be sometimes." –  Adriana Gotowiecka

‘THE BEST OF HER’ 2015 triptych collages are about the rite of passage that addresses complexities of being a woman, with the light note and dash of mischief between the lines. The same year Adriana also turned her attention to representational painting in her ‘ONLY WE KNOW’ series. She used flowers & fruit as subject matter presenting the sexual anatomy in sharp focus, expressing hidden ways of portraying her encounter with leading men in her life - Like Georgia O’Keeffe, drawing attention to the inherent androgyny of this subject.

Adriana loves the freedom of big, bold, tactile finger-strokes and multilayering that acrylic allows therefore acrylic is my main medium.  She also likes to work with paper, acrylic pens and paint-spray making a collage or paint a whole canvas using only sprays. She enjoys the lack of any rules in art and painting which makes my work free flowing, uninhibited, bold and colourful.

“In any artistic expression, Gotowiecka goes through the depth of her subconscious, inviting viewers to be aware of their own unique existence within the world, making them able to recognise and analyse their own feelings and emotions. Gotowiecka shares her universe with such ferocity through exuberant creations that she is strongly appreciated for the impact of her talent in the contemporary art scene of today and tomorrow.”  –  Timothy Warrington,  International Confederation of Art Critics.
