Azita Panahpour was born in Iran, and now lives in New York. She is a multidisciplinary artist who works in painting, photography, video and commercial art. Her career began as an Art Director at New York’s advertising agencies where she continues to contribute on creative direction for select projects. Her photography has been exhibited in a number of group and solo shows nationwide as well as published in various annuals and magazines. Shattered Poems is an ongoing reflection on her personal journey of leaving her homeland. The paintings were inspired by a verse from Rumi (13th century Persian mystic poet) and evolved into a visual representation of rhythm and form blended in layers of colors and texture.
